BEFRIENDING SERVICES Overview

Our Befriending Service is a targeted initiative to reduce loneliness and isolation among older adults by offering meaningful social connections. Through regular interactions with trained volunteers, we aim to promote emotional well-being and enhance quality of life for seniors facing solitude due to factors such as bereavement, limited mobility, or social changes.

The Role of Volunteers

Volunteers are central to this service. Carefully selected and trained, they offer companionship, a listening ear, and emotional support. By engaging in tailored activities—such as shared walks, games, reading sessions, or simple conversations over tea—volunteers help foster a sense of belonging and purpose for the individuals they support.

Mental Health Benefits & Community Engagement

Regular social contact has proven benefits for mental health, helping reduce risks of depression and anxiety among older people. Our service seeks to create lasting friendships that uplift mood and contribute to overall well-being.

We recognise that addressing loneliness requires a collective effort. We invite local residents to support or volunteer with our service, helping to build a more connected and caring community for older adults.
