Pastoral Care

As much as Pastors (Shepherds) sees to the feeding, wellbeing and growth of the flock, the term pastoral care has evolved over the years to signify pastors’ concerns and their watchful attention for the flock. Traditionally, the pastoral carer will provide biblical counselling, visit the sick and injured in hospitals, and disciple members of the congregation using various forms of social engagements. Pastoral care may also be extended to the very ministers and their families.

At El-Bethel Mission, qualified ministers as well as trained officials provide such shepherdoral services as directed in 1 Peter 5:2-3. Pastoral Care is implicit in much of what we do as a Church and inherent in who we are as a community. This model of emotional, social, and spiritual support is offered to everyone. They do not have to be a religious person nor a Christian. El-Bethel Mission focus on Befriending, Advocacy, Coaching and Prayer, hence BACiP Service. We partner with faith groups to facilitate a pastoral services which may include prayer, scripture readings, comfort and support, counselling and sacraments.

PASTORAL CARE POLICY:

A clearly defined pastoral policy could serve to be the benchmark against which actual practice is gauged as to its effectiveness or otherwise.

Such a policy could affirm the pastoral care already happening in the church and is one way of helping the Priorities of the Church to be met. Policies are also useful tools in clarifying our thinking and when seeking training and funding for the work we do. < more >
